- Independent private equity and venture capital funds focused on Italy raised 1,313 Euro Mln on the Italian and international financial market (almost half the amount raised in 2015, equal to 2,487 Euro Mln). Private debt fundraising was equal to 632 Euro Mln (+65% on 2015 data).
- The amount invested in private equity and venture capital was equal to 8,191 Euro Mln (+77% in comparison with 2015, when the amount was 4,620 Mln), distributed over 322 deals (-6% on the 342 deals of the previous year). Private debt investments increased, reaching 378 Euro Mln (+87%) on 65 deals (+51%).
- Regarding the distribution by stage, the largest part of resources continued to flow into buy out deals (5,772 Euro Mln), followed by infrastructures, that attracted 942 Euro Mln, and expansion deals (710 Euro Mln). In terms of number, early stage deals were predominant (128 investments), followed by buy out deals (98) and expansion (67).
- The total number of divestments in 2016 was 145 (-19% on 2015 figures), distributed over 113 companies, for a total amount, calculated at cost (not including capital gains), equal to 3,656 Euro Mln (+26% in comparison with 2015, when the amount was equal to 2,903 Euro Mln)
